WALDRICH COBURG - Major investment in production at the Coburg site

Major investment in production at the Coburg site

A new mill-turn center from the company WFL Millturn Technologies GmbH & Co. KG from Linz in Austria has been put into operation in our production facility in Hall 24.

This was preceded by an intensive project planning and preparation phase.

On the Millturn M50/3000 machine, the machining technologies of turning, milling, drilling and gear cutting of complex chuck or shaft parts up to 670mm diameter on a length of up to 3000 mm can now be produced in a complete machining operation. This includes milling spindles and swivel parts.

With the Siemens 840D SL control, virtually any geometric contour can be machined through the interpolation of up to 5 axes, and various machining and measuring cycles. The machine has driven tools and automated NC steady rest. There are 108 positions available for automatic tool change.

Our new tool database, which is also under construction, will enable us to digitize the tools as 3D models in the future. Substantial information regarding tool geometry, technology data, tool design and possible applications will be recorded and digitally managed. This innovative and digital solution for the management and processing of tool data makes a significant contribution to process reliability on the machine.

Our production manager Helmut Wall is convinced that this mill-turn center will strengthen our production site in Coburg: “The mill-turn center represents a quantum leap in innovation and efficiency for production at WALDRICH COBURG. With this investment, we are strengthening our production and manufacturing site significantly. I am very pleased that this project, with a considerable investment volume, has been implemented. Special thanks go to the project team, consisting of employees from production, work preparation, NC programming and maintenance, for their committed and constructive cooperation over the past few months.”
