Material

A chromium-based steel alloy, it’s one of the most commonly used tool steels, thanks to its
outstanding impact toughness. Tool Steel H11 is widely used for hot tooling applications, in the
manufacturing of dies, and in aerospace applications.

Manufacturing process

The Press Brake Tool could be manufactured either by CNC machining or by EDM wire cutting,
scrapping about 60% of the mass of the initial steel stock.
Additive manufacturing of the tool via the Melo LMD process allows the optimization of the material
used. Moreover, the Dual Material option offers the unique capability of manufacturing the core of
the tool in Mild Steel, reducing cost and potentially improving the mechanical properties of the whole
part.
