Kern scores again at TOP 100 : Manufacturer of high accuracy milling machines convinces the jury with new innovations
It is a big challenge to be successful. It is an even bigger one to remain successful. With this goal in mind, the Kern managing directors Simon Eickholt and Sebastian Guggenmos invest permanently in innovation management at the operational level and in the entire strategic development of the company.
“Of course, we are very excited that experts outside our industry – like the scientific team of Prof. Dr. Nikolaus Franke – acknowledge with the TOP 100 award our approach again after 2019 in 2021, ” explains Eickholt. The scientific awarding process is subject to a total of 120 test criteria from five categories: innovation-promoting top management, innovation climate, innovative processes and organization, external orientation / open innovation and innovation success. Specifically, it is about the repeatability of innovation performances and the ability to establish them on the market.
This is exactly what Kern proves on a regular basis – most recently with the top-of-the-line Kern Micro HD machine, which was introduced at the end of 2019 and which has already established itself in many companies in different industries. But the mechanical engineering company is also intensively involved in basic research. In the course of the past year, it was possible to raise the high-precision processing of technical ceramics to a new level and to multiply the possible removal rates. The basis for this are a new cutting mode, high-precision Kern machining centers and special tools from a partner. Kern Microtechnik achieves these and many other successes with high investments in development and innovation as well as great commitment in all areas and levels of the company. Sebastian Guggenmos adds: “In addition, the never-ending exchange with customers and around 60 collaborations with international universities and colleges are the important basis for mutual inspiration.
